Over the past week our PE teachers have taken the lead on teaching about Terry Fox, a fellow Canadian, who ran the 1980 “Marathon of Hope,” attempting to cross Canada on an artificial leg to raise money for cancer research, ultimately inspiring a global fundraising movement that has raised over 1 billion dollars.
Today, DMS staff and students are proudly participating in our annual Terry Fox Walk. This important event provides an opportunity for our school community to come together to honor the legacy of Terry Fox, a true Canadian hero whose courage, determination, and commitment to helping others continue to inspire generations.
The Terry Fox Foundation supports groundbreaking cancer research across Canada, helping to fund projects that improve treatment options, advance scientific discoveries, and bring hope to individuals and families affected by cancer. Terry’s vision was simple but powerful: to create a world where no one has to fear a cancer diagnosis.
Over the coming weeks, we will be launching fundraising initiatives to support the Terry Fox Foundation and this important cause. We encourage our Wildcat families to stay tuned for information on how you can participate and make a donation.
